HardBrain

An experimental AI-assisted design engine that works directly on an editable canvas instead of producing a single flattened image.

HardBrain is an experimental artificial intelligence project that aims to translate natural-language design instructions into editable canvas operations.

Instead of generating only a finished image, the system creates text, shapes, images, colors, and layouts as separate layers. The resulting design can therefore be edited afterward, much like a document in professional graphic design software.

I am building a model-independent infrastructure that can connect different AI systems to the same design engine. I compare API-based and local models across creativity, design knowledge, speed, cost, and privacy.

The current research and development work focuses on:

Managing objects on the canvas through AI
Creating text, shapes, images, and layers
Translating design decisions into structured commands
Grid, alignment, typography, and visual hierarchy systems
Persistent project memory and design context
Using datasets similar to DesignAsCode
Switching between API-based and local models
Keeping generated designs editable

My long-term goal is an independent design engine that can connect to different models in the way Ollama or Open WebUI does, but is built specifically for graphic design and canvas production.

HardBrain is currently in the research, prototyping, and infrastructure-development stage.
